Taking "Religulous" Out Behind the Woodshed

If you've been to a movie theatre lately, you've probably seen a poster or trailer for Bill Maher's new "documentary" on contemporary religious experience, Religulous.

Yes, that Bill Maher.

Not a historian.

Not a biblical scholar.

Not a sociologist.

Not a psychologist.

A comedian....

...somehow I doubt that this film will elevate the public discourse.

The pre-release analysis has already begun. Here's one site where he's already receiving a well-earned drubbing for his flagrant incompetence.

Enjoy!

I can't wait for this movie... it's about time grown adults stop believing in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Faeries, Allah, Trolls, Yahweh, Zeus, etc...

You don't need to be a biblical scholar or historian to see how silly religions are!

We can talk about the Bosnia atrocities later. Suffice to say that acknowledged terrorists groups like the KLA engaged in their own ethnic cleansing against muslims and Serbs. Financed by US tax dollars, they then began to engage in sex traffiking, drug trafficking, etc.

And the Kosovars aren't even Serb. They are albanian. Tito imported them for cheap labor. They are like our Mexicans.

As for Holbrooke, I don't have that level of sanctification to read him yet. And it's not like the American media is unbiased and neutral.

On the whole east and west thingie: I have always appreciated the east, being a slavophile and all. More on that later. I am entertaining Gustav refugees at the moment.

I am curious. Could you please explain your thouhgts/journey/experience/conversation with Eastern Orthodoxy? When we left LC, I thought you were relatively fond of it.

I am still curious as to why you don' tlike Eastern Orthodoxy. Unfortunately, my blogger is shot and is down for comments.
